The Summer (Camps) of Hip Hop
Hip Hop started in the 1970’s in New York City’s South Bronx. Since then, Hip Hop has blown up worldwide, adapted to different music styles, and generates millions of dollars each year. This summer consider enrolling your kids in a music or Hip Hop based summer-camp.

A DJ spins and mixes music at social functions, public and private events and night clubs. DJs also play music for AM, FM, satellite and internet radio stations. Many DJs begin their career as disc jockeys during their teen years. A DJ summer-camp such as DUB COURSES–one of the first of it’s kind in Texas–teaches kids the history of disk jockeying and how to be a DJ in a fun atmosphere. The camp offers course for kids ages 9-13, 14-17 and 18+. DUB Academy has professional DJ equipment for kids to learn on, such as Technics 1210 M5G, Rane TTM 56S, Serato SL 3, Ableton Live 8 and Logic Studio 9. For more information and camp registration log onto www.dubacademy.com.

Keeping The Movement Going

Some of the Rap songs made by male rappers today portray women as sexual objects. These songs may provide the male Rap artist with fame and dollars but they do nothing to uplift their fellow female rappers. As a female RAP artist, Quintescence has had her share of pressure to show that she has what it takes to go toe to toe with male Rap artists. As she continues to polish her skills and talent, given the time she’s bound to outshine them.

FOLLOW-UP: AKSHAN!! WHAT’S HE UP TO?

His music is like liquid love for your body that fills it with rhythmic pleasure

I had a chance to do a followup interview with music artist Akshan. The first time I spoke with him I was immediately hypnotized by his star quality, his ambition and professionalism. What impressed me the most about his music then and now, is his creative and innovative music versatility. What impressed me about the artist himself is his passion for his music.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MESSAGE

Sometimes situation and circumstances have an away of directing ones path in life. Family pressure, pier pressure and society can push a person down a road they don’t want to travel and years later they look back on their life with regret. For Gospel RAP artist MC Pslamist, there’s no regret for the path that he is on. During a Christine youth camp function he realized that gospel RAP music could be used as a creative form to spread the Christian message.

GO FOR THE STARS

Why is it that a person can be given a gift for a special occasion or a birthday and that gift is not set aside or ignored it’s opened right away. However, when a person is given a gift that comes from inside of them, many do not pursue theirs and sadly some do not even recognize their gift. This is not the case for musical artist D-Millz, he began his musical journey at the age of 4 and by the time he was a teen he knew that music was his gift. While perusing his music degree in college thats when he knew that he wanted to performing and create music.

At Sambuca, the music is as sizzling as the cuisine

Sambuca is one of the up-beat nightspots in uptown Dallas. Four-star cuisine by Chef Mario Dominguez sets Sambuca apart from the wave of restaurants on McKinney Avenue. Co-owners Kim and Holly Forsythe have crated an Orient/Russian wonderland of first-class food and music. It begin in Deep Ellum 1991, fifteen years later the brother and sister dynamic due opened six restaurant in Uptown Dallas, Addison, Atlanta, Houston, Denver and the newest addition in Nashville. With its guardian fu dogs, gargoyles and Buddha ornament, Sambuca is still making its mark, as one of Dallas hot spots.

The name say’s it all. “Sambuca” an ancient stringed instrument, an Italian liqueur made from elderberries and flavored with licorice. With a full service bar you can purchase Wine or Champagne by the glass or by the bottle. If you are a cockatiel lover I recommend the Summer breeze or the Mambo. They say that music feeds the soul and the Daniel Banda band will have you dancing in your chair. Don’t worry if you are sitting out on the resort style patio or inside the red velvet party booth, because the music will come to you.

A journey into Sambuca’s European dinning room is a fantastic voyage into another realm of exceptional New American cuisine. Begin your dinning indulgence with a martini; they’re not just for drinking anymore. Treat your taste buds to jumbo crabmeat with shrimp ceviche style, a delightful Seafood Martini appetizer ($10.50), listed under “For Starters” on the menu. For the entree, there are a number of captivating seafood dishes, listed on the menu under “Off the Hook”. However one stands out from the rest, Lobster Enchilada ($25) three enchiladas stuffed with succulent lobster and shrimp, mixed with jalapeno jack cheese, smothered in a poblano cream sauce and served with cilantro rice.

If you are looking for delicious food while listening to fabulous music, then Sambuca is the place for you. Make your next girls night, date night, a night filled with awesome food, great music and a cool atmosphere.

What is Black Tea?

On of the most popular Tea’s in the United States is Black Tea. Like all teas, Black Tea leaves are green when they are harvested. Black Tea is made from leaves more deeply oxidized than white, green and oolong mixtures.  Black Tea has a stronger flavor and it contains more caffeine than lightly oxidized teas. Unlike Green Tea that looses it flavor in a year, Black Tea conserves its flavor for several years. Black Tea can be found at www.tenren.com/blacktea.html for $6.50/ 50 tea bags or $9.90 100 tea bags. Also at www.teaspring.com/Keemun-Black-Tea.asp for $21.50 / 100 gram can.

How is Black Tea made?

First the leaves are harvested and withered. The tealeaf is subjected to extreme temperatures over fire or commercial ovens. Black Tea is processed by the CTC method that stands for crush, tear, and curl. The CTC method is also know as the orthodox method. There are two ways to perform the CTC method one is by machine. When a machine performs the CTC method the tealeaves are lower quality leaves and they end up in tea bags. The second way to perform the CTC method is by hand. This process produces high quality tealeaves that connoisseurs crave. The tealeaves are sorted into grades according to their sizes.

A good cup of tea is great, but is there any health benefits to drinking Black Tea?

Those of you with high cholesterol, I have great news. The USDA recently announced that drinking Black Tea may lower the bad cholesterol levels and could one day be used to help reduce the chance of heart disease.

In Saudi Arabia, research found the regular consumption of Black Tea can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease by fifty percent. The Netherlands National Institute found that men who drank over four cups of Black Tea a day had a significantly lower risk of stroke than men who drank only two to three cups a day.

Drinking Black Tea can help you keep that beautiful smile. Research from a Chicago College of Dentistry revealed that people who rinsed their mouths with black tea several times a day had less plaque buildup than those who rinsed with water. An added bonus, Scientists at the University of Illinois in Chicago say that Black Tea has the ability to stop the growth of bacteria that causes bad breath. The polyphenols in Black Tea can stop the bacterial growth that causes halitosis.

Studies have shown that tea is among the riches natural sources of antioxidants. Which can be linked with prevention of cancer. Studies from England’s University of Newcastle report that both Green and Black Tea may inhibit certain brain enzymes linked to Alzheimer’s disease. These studies findings could open a doorway to new therapeutic progress for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
